VANILLA & COCOA

Departure from Hotel: 8:00 a.m.

Among natural tropical essences, those derived from the vanilla pod are recognized for their qualitative and taste properties. Their aromatic power releases all the flavors for the greatest culinary pleasure of visitors. At the first stop on the route, a workshop located in the southwest of the island opens up to you the agricultural secrets linked to the cultivation of vanilla but also to other spices such as delicious cinnamon or pepper.

After this stop with fruity scents, the discovery rushes towards cocoa and its derivatives! The fascinating visit to a family farm adorned with cocoa trees highlights the cocoa manufacturing processes, this precious raw material leading to the making of the famous chocolate! The managers are full of comments and anecdotes about the site, its history, the fruits... At the end of the aperitif and a tasty local lunch, the afternoon allows the discovery of a purely family Creole garden founded in 1831 nestled on the heights of the seaside village of Marin located on the southwest side of the island. The site, offering a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean, highlights plants, shrubs, bark and other foliage from the Creole garden whose use can be therapeutic. They constitute a sort of small lexicon of the local pharmacopoeia. This family site was twice awarded the “Blue Ribbon of Ecology” awarded by the Martinique Regional Natural Park.
